Which Pinterest Link Should You Use to Download Media?

A downloader needs the URL for one public Pin because that page connects the media with its title, preview, and context. Short sharing URLs can resolve to a Pin, but board, profile, search, and direct CDN addresses represent different resources and should not be treated as substitutes.

Individual Pin and pin.it links

An individual Pin URL identifies one Pinterest item and is the preferred input. The Pinterest app may copy a pin.it short link from its Share menu; the downloader verifies and resolves that address only when it leads back to an allowed public Pinterest destination. Never use a shortened link from an unrelated service.

Board, profile, and search URLs

A board contains a collection, a profile can contain created and saved Pins from different owners, and a search page changes with queries and personalization. These addresses do not identify one media file. Open the required Pin from the collection first, then copy that Pin's own link.

Why direct pinimg links are not accepted as input

A direct CDN URL may display an image or video but removes the public Pin context used to identify the title and preview. Requiring the Pin page also reduces arbitrary proxying and lets the user confirm the intended item before download. Use direct media URLs only as internal source results returned by the verified extraction process.

Questions about which pinterest link should you use to download media?

Can I paste a pin.it link into the downloader?

Yes, when the secure pin.it link resolves to an allowed public Pinterest Pin.

Why does a Pinterest board URL not download?

A board contains multiple Pins and does not identify one media item. Open the individual Pin and copy its link instead.

Can I use an i.pinimg.com URL directly?

Use the public Pin URL as input so the service can verify Pinterest context and show a title and thumbnail before download.
